One Toke Over the Line? Marijuana in the Workplace

On September 19, 2019, BCGL partner Angela Sanders presented at the Lancaster County Industrial Safety Council on the issue of medical marijuana in the workplace.  Angela provided an overview of Pennsylvania's Medical Marijuana Act and its impact on the workplace. Because of this Act, employers must accommodate lawful marijuana use which impacts employers' current policies and procedures. Employers need to educate themselves on not only the scope of the Act, but other implications regarding CBD oil, testing, hemp, internal pre-employment procedures, and anti-discrimination obligations.

As part of BCGL's Employment and Labor Law Department, Angela provides day-to-day counseling to employers on a wide-range of employment topics, including wage and hour issues, FMLA compliance, harassment and discrimination, hiring, employee misconduct, discipline and termination, drug and alcohol abuse, and OSHA compliance.
