The outcome of the 2020 election will result in legislative, regulatory and policy changes for employers. On October 20, 2020, BCGL partner Angela Sanders will present at the Manufacturers' Association of South Central Pennsylvania (MASCPA).  Angela's presentation, "Employee Injuries and Disabilities:  Navigating the Bermuda Triangle of ADA, FMLA and WC,"  will provide employers with an overview of laws applicable to employee injuries and illness, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Workers’ Compensation Law (WC) and Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). The program will provide strategies and recommendations for responding to employee injuries, requests for modified duty and requests for accommodation.

 

As part of BCGL's Employment and Labor Law Department, Angela provides day-to-day counseling to employers on a wide-range of employment topics, including wage and hour issues, FMLA compliance, harassment and discrimination, hiring, employee misconduct, discipline and termination, drug and alcohol abuse, and OSHA compliance.

On October 14, 2020, Theresa Mongiovi, Chair of BCGL's Employment & Labor Department, will present "2020 Discrimination and Harassment Update" at Alera Group's Breakfast & Buzz.  The presentation will provide guidance on proactive knowledge and strategies employers should consider including implicit bias awareness; hiring, discipline, and separation strategies; training recommendations; strategies for addressing workplace complaints; and #MeToo and Black Lives Matter movement considerations in the workplace.


In her role as Chair of BCGL's Employment and Labor Law Department, Theresa helps clients with employment and business counseling, employee manuals, discipline and termination, workplace investigations, enforcement of restrictive covenants, employee misconduct and theft, policy development, and discrimination defense. She also represents clients in business and commercial litigation, including enforcement and defense of non-competition agreements.

On September 25, 2020, BCGL attorney Angela Sanders spoke at the Lancaster Society for Human Resource Management Fall Legal Conference.  Her session - "Remote Work:  Planning for the Virtual Workplace of the Future" - provided attendees with tips and strategies for a successful remote work program, both during COVID-19 and long term.
